Mass spectrometry-based proteomics allows the simultaneous measurement of a large number of proteins and has been widely used for protein biomarker discovery and validation. Quantitative proteomics techniques were primarily developed with small sample numbers, but research involving clinical cohorts requires robust quantitation over a large number of samples. To ensure data accuracy, additional technical and analytical quality control measures need to be implemented in proteomics research involving clinical research cohorts.
